Motorcyclists are quick, easy to miss, and badly exposed in a crash. A little extra checking and space from other drivers keeps them safe.
Look for them, and give them room
Whenever you're turning, changing lanes or opening your door, check your mirrors and blind spots and look behind — motorcyclists are highly mobile but hard to see and vulnerable. Don't be fooled by a motorcycle's indicator, either: most don't switch off automatically, so it may not mean what you think. And give a motorcyclist a whole lane, because they may suddenly swerve or slow to avoid a hazard on the road.
